Dinghy Sailing What to Wear

Wetsuit Booties:

These come in different styles from slip on shoes to boots with zippers. Ideally you want a neoprene boot with a stiffened sole. If you’re not wearing booties old runners are ok, no crocs or flip flops

Wetsuit:

A full wetsuit with Long arms and Long legs is most suitable, also called a steamer. No shorties allowed I’m afraid.

Rash vest:

A lycra vest which provides a soft layer against your skin, helps keep you warm and stops the neoprene from irritating your skin.

Swimsuit:

Wear it under your rash vest

Cag:

A windproof jacket to wear over your wetsuit

Bouyancy aid:

This should fit snugly.

Hat:

Either a peaked hat or woolly hat depending on the weather

Sun cream:

Even when the sun isn't shinning, it will keep you looking younger for longer

Sailing gloves:

These will protect your hands from rope burns and chaffing

Board shorts:

To be worn over your wetsuit. These protect the bum of your suit from getting torn.

The club have a limited supply of wetsuits, cags and buoyancy aids.

The rash vest, board shorts, sailing gloves and wetsuit booties are optional.
